Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art: North Forest Village

 Bentonville, AR | Spring 2021

This was a group project that was working with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art to re-think their existing outdoor area called the North Forest Village. The museum is expanding and needs something more permanent and substantial than what stands there currently. My primary focus in this project is the furthest West part of the site proposal called “The Gateway”. The Gateway serves as a threshold between the existing museum property and what is going to be expansion into the surrounding neighborhood.

These images are from the original storyboard of ideas we wanted on the site.

These early plan and section drawings show the large light sculpture and how it connects to the ground, the green infrastructure proposed throughout, and how people are anticipated to move in the space.

These final images show the permeable paving, light sculpture, and various weather events working together to create the experience of this space. The space is meant to be ephemeral and constantly changing based on outside variables to enhance the experience of the space.
